Accompanying the Deputy Prime Minister were Trần Tiến Dũng, Member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the Điện Biên provincial Party Committee, along with members of the Provincial Party Standing Committee and leaders of various local departments.
As she moved through the vibrant displays, Phạm Thị Thanh Trà took the time to inquire about the business operations of the various participants and praised the impressive diversity of the specialty agricultural and OCOP (One Commune One Product) items showcased by both Điện Biên and the 23 other participating provinces.
While visiting the stalls dedicated to coffee and macadamia, the two strategic agricultural pillars of the province, the Deputy Prime Minister highlighted the high quality and sophisticated packaging of the products. She suggested that Điện Biên should continue researching the expansion of raw material areas through a concentrated approach to facilitate large-scale commodity production. Furthermore, she urged the province to attract more investment into deep processing for macadamia and coffee to build strong brands and eventually penetrate international export markets.
The Deputy Prime Minister was particularly impressed by the traditional craft booths, especially the intricate ethnic brocade weaving. She noted the high aesthetic value and the sophisticated patterns that define these cultural treasures. To ensure these traditions thrive, she requested that the province develop appropriate policies and mechanisms to support local ethnic communities in preserving and expanding traditional craft villages.
Beyond preservation, Phạm Thị Thanh Trà encouraged artisans and craft villages to stay proactive in marketing their work. She emphasized that the integration of digital technology is essential for connecting with a broader market, suggesting that digital tools and e-commerce platforms should be utilized to enhance business efficiency and bring local specialties to a global audience.
During the tour, the Deputy Prime Minister and her delegation also immersed themselves in the ethnic cultural spaces set up by various local communes and wards. This year’s festival features a massive scale with 205 booths operated by 146 units, including 51 local participants and 95 organizations from 23 different provinces and cities across Việt Nam. The visit concluded with a shared moment of celebration as the Deputy Prime Minister joined in a traditional Xòe dance with the Thái people, symbolizing the unity and cultural vitality at the heart of the Bauhinia Flower Festival.
